Exciting Eight Days Drive from Mombasa
With this option, you start from Mombasa on your way to Malindi and you pass though the tropical land of the Giriama where you will cross through rivers, hills, farmlands and villages.
After passing Malindi town, your next destination is Tsavo East and the Yatta Plateau. As you journey through, you get to see wildlife over this vast plain of land which makes it an exciting drive. You also get to pass through bushy grasslands and huge open plains that alternate with semi-arid acacia scrubs and savanna.
You then enter Tsavo West national park which features a rich mix of open plain acacia woodland as well as rocky ridges and extensive ranges as well asl rivers and isolated hills. As you head towards the Chyulu Hills, you will encounter the recent volcanic activities with lava flows including the Shetani lava flow. Mt Kilimanjaro can be seen on clear days and it dominates the view from Chyulu hills.
In this region you feel the magic that Africa brings and the mountains here are only about 500 years old. The hills have a variety of vegetation plus wildlife and the hills in this place are more or less undisturbed. Driving a car in this place is quite demanding as we have patches of montane forests that give way to rough grasslands and thicket.
8 Days Starting from Nairobi
Your African driving experience will begin in Lewa in Laikipia. The Laikipia Ecosystem spans two million acres of unblemished wilderness in the North of Kenya.
