One Out of Every Five Americans Do Not Have Health Insurance
Recently, a report was release, along with some staggering information on our country’s health insurance crisis. One in every five of us does not have any sort of health insurance, and this number is expected to rise due to unemployment going up. this problem won’t go away, it will probably increase, so it needs to be addressed now.
The CDC has reported that the actual number of Americans without health coverage is 40 million. Of those people, 20% went without have a health procedure done because they couldn’t afford it. This number is higher than it was previously, and with some states initiating health plans for children in lower and upper middle class families. you would htink the number would be going down.
Because people couldn’t afford them, they went without medical care, prescription medicines, mental health care and dental and vision care. Many people said had they had insurance, they would have taken care of these items.
The majority of people who are not insured in this country are children and the elderly, which are also the ones who need it most. With so much advancement in the medical field, it is atrocious to think there are people out there without any medical care at all.
Our top priority should be taking care of our own citizens before sending money and supplies to other nations. Once our country has all their needs met, then we can move on. Good will start here.
