Today consumers are questioning whether their health insurance is really necessary. Premiums are so expensive so natuarlly they question it. Perhaps they think since they are healthy they will not need it. They do not see the true value of health insurance coverage.

Nobody can predict an illness. It can stike anytime and anyone. You are foolish to believe you will remain illness or accident free forever. Think about Murphy’s Law. I have heard the nightmarish stories of people who thought like that.

You could say your monthly premium for insurance is not only buying you and your family the coverage they need but also comfort in the fact that you will be okay if medical issues arise. It is essentially a safeguard against financial doom. There are many things to consider when pondering the dilemma of being uninsured.

A minor illness could cost you big in the pocket book. Many symptoms require expensive test just to get a diagnosis. The financial crisis of a sudden illness can cause you to be more susceptible to illness due to stress. So those bills for a minor illness could escalate to more.

What if you caught the flu. Will it may not be a big deal. Maybe $80 dollars for a doctor visit. But, what about the other 3 members of your family, what if they get it too. That can easily add up to hundreds of dollars out of your pocket.

If you are so concerened with throwing money away or you just can’t afford the health insurance at least look into a catastrophic plan. This type of plan is low cost and will still cover the big stuff. And the big stuff can happen to anybody!

If you are used to having health insurance with co-pay and prescriptions you will find some really comprabale plans that are affordable. So you don’t have to settle for expensive. Just shop around the many plans out there.

Don’t make low income an excuse for not having insurance either. You can find a government funded plan if you are low income. For the rest of you, you can find individual health insurance. And your employer may offer coverage.
