Throwing a Murder Mystery Party

Having a murder mystery may sound like a good idea, but sometimes getting started can be half the battle. Sure you know who you will invite and now you have a theme, but making it come together can get a bit more tricky. Planning is truly the key to pulling off this type of party, and you will find that the more planning you do, the better the party will come off.

The first step is finding the ideal murder mystery party game. You can look online, and make sure to read the entire thing beforehand, to get an idea of what you need to do. Let your guests know what kind of party they will be attending and be clear on the time and date. Wait until everyone RSVP’s before you assign characters.

You may choose to decorate according to the theme, or not. It will definitely add to the ambiance. Make sure to pan the menu accordingly, people will be moving around, so finger food is best. Pot luck is a good way to go the non stress way.

At about two weeks before the party, start putting together the character envelopes and assigning the characters. Go in to as much detail as you can to allow your guests to fully dress and prepare for the part.

Lastly, get everything in place. Decorate, if you have chosen to do so, and set up a buffet table for your guests. Then just answer the door and have a great time. Having a murder mystery party doesn’t have to be difficult, however, it does need to be planned out. Doing all the work well in advance will ensure that you and your guests are relaxed and ready to have fun.
