Cheap cruises or plush getaways… it doesn’t make a difference when it comes to meal times. Cruise ships pride themselves on the variety of cuisine choices, dining rooms and styles of dishes on offer to passengers. Considering that an entire shipload of different people need to be catered for, you can expect to be spoiled for choice.

The quality and selection of dining options on board cruise ships is legendary, and from the moment you step foot on board you’ll understand why.

If you’re into sailing with style, some cruises still have occasional formal dinners to give you a real luxury experience, with guests encouraged to dress up in their finest and fanciest. Overall, though, the selection is varied. You’ll find everything on board from retro 1950’s diners to Italian silver service, ice cream parlours to steakhouses, and everything else in between. If you thought the tough decision was choosing which ship to sail on, then just wait until you have to pick somewhere for dinner!

Most ships encourage you to reserve a table for your preferred dinner time in the evenings. If you’re planning on making the most of the on board facilities and catching an early start, or have young children with you, an earlier sitting usually starts from about 6pm. Late sittings are generally from about 8pm.

If you can’t decide when to eat, perhaps it would be worth picking the earlier sitting so that you can spend your evening enjoying some of the on board entertainment. Go dancing, see a comedy show, watch a movie, or simply enjoy the night view over the ocean. You certainly get your money’s worth on a discount cruise! Whenever you choose have dinner, note that the tables for two get snapped up the quickest, so it never hurts to book in advance.

For years, tourists have been enjoying northwest Australia’s Kimberley Region, as well as the almost a thousand islands just off the coast. They offer secluded beaches, beautiful bays, mangroves and rainforests, and they’re best seen by boat.

You can find a cruise to go with any interest, from birdwatching, photography and beach combing to hiking and fishing. Take a longer trip if you’d like to swim in some of the area’s beautiful waters, teaming with fish, turtles and other wildlife, or do some island exploration.

See whales, sharks, birds and saltwater crocodiles from a distance, check out Strickland Bay’s amazing eroded rocks, Hidden Island’s fantastic pure white beach, and Kooland Island’s iron mine.

You’ll also have the chance to see Aboriginal art, waterfalls and pearl farms and to collect oysters or fish near the coral reef. Some cruises offer the day’s catch as a meal choice to anglers.

Check out the Horizontal Falls at Talbot Bay – a real horizontal waterfall that’s caused by the way the tide goes through a passage in the cliffs. The gap is so narrow that the water builds up faster on one side than it can pass through, making a difference of four to six meters in the water level, and causing a waterfall to flow between the bays.

Described as one of the world’s greatest natural wonders, these falls should be seen under safe circumstances, such as a cruise. Rough and extreme water conditions in this part of the world have caused many fatalities over the years among sailors and pearl divers.

The good news is that if you’re with a company that knows its stuff, you’ll be completely safe, with boats passing through the waterfall for a thrill. Of course, if you’d like to see the falls and stay dry, you can do it from above in a seaplane or helicopter.

If you want to make sure you have plenty of time on the islands, choose cruises that do most of the distance travel at night. You should also pay close attention to what’s included – you may have to pay extra for snacks, meals, snorkeling gear and fishing tackle on some cruises, while other include them in the basic fee.

If you’re planning on an Australian adventure cruise, you’ll need to take the right clothes, like lightweight fabrics that keep you cool, good walking shoes you don’t mind getting wet and a wide brimmed hat. Don’t forget to keep insect repellent and sunscreen, and keep your camera close to hand.

Most tours happen during the dry season, between April and November, but some also occur during Australia’s wet season, since there are lots of places to shelter in rough weather. Pick your cruise according to what you want to see and how exciting you want the weather to be.

Anyone who loves a real adventure should check out their options when it comes to Kimberley adventure cruises. Pick one that’s long enough to let you see it all and get all the cruise details before you leave to have the best experience.

My husband and our 10 month old daughter and I just returned from a wonderful one week cruise in the Caribbean on the Crown Princess cruise ship. We wondered how difficult it would be to cruise with a young baby – it turned out that it was actually quite easy. Sure there are some things that we would do differently, but for the most part we did a lot of things very, very well. We are now planning our next cruise.

I thought it would be beneficial to other travellers planning a cruise with a young baby to read about our typical day on a cruise ship.

Our typical day started at 7:00 a.m. when our daughter woke up. We would take her out of the playpen that was provided to us by the cruise company and bring her into bed with us for a few minutes to play with her as we all woke up.

After the family play time we would wash our daughter up, change her into some dry clothes and then my husband would put our daughter into our stroller (we brought one with us – don’t leave home without one) and take her for a walk on one of the outside deck – either one of the top decks or the promenade deck. While they were gone – for 45 minutes or so – I would hop into the shower, get dressed, pack the diaper bag for the day and tidy up the cabin a bit. When they returned my husband would have his shower and get ready for the morning.

The three of us would than meet at the buffet area of the ship for breakfast. One of us would put our girl into a high chair (again provided by the cruise ship) and the other would go to the buffet to get breakfast.

After breakfast we headed back to our cabin to change into bathing suits and off we would go to the kiddies pool. On our ship young babies are allowed in the kiddies pool if they are wearing a swim diaper.

Our daughter needs and I think actually enjoys napping – so after swimming we would go back to the cabin and put her down for her nap. Before we left on our vacation my husband and I talked about how important it was for us to share the child-care duties during the trip. So when our daughter napped we would take turns staying with her. If it was my turn to stay with her while she napped – hubby would head of for some time on his own, and then the next time we would swap – he would stay with her and I would head off. It worked out great.

When our daughter woke up for her nap we would put her into the stroller and the three of us would walk around the ship together. Back to the buffet for lunch together – more exploring – maybe some more swimming – and eventually it was afternoon nap time.

For dinner we always went to the formal dining room. It was the highlight of the day. We would all get dressed up for dinner, and would head off for a pre-dinner cocktail at about 5:30 and then go for dinner at about 6:00 p.m. Every dinner was spectacular and the service from the dining room staff was excellent. All the staff loved talking to our daughter.

Right before dinner my husband and daughter would go to the buffet and gather up a few pieces of fruit to take with us to the dining room for our daughter to eat during dinner.

When we were seated at our table in the dining room (again there are plenty of high chairs available) my husband and I would look over the menu, place our dinner order (we loved the food on the ship) and our daughter would munch on her fruit, some pieces of bread and on some other snack food that I brought with us.

When our daughter was ready to eat I would feed her a jar of baby food and some baby cereal that was provided by the cruise company. After eating we sat and enjoyed each other’s company as our daughter enjoyed her bottle.

When we left the dining room we would head back to our room. It was time for her evening bath – since our room did not have a bathtub (it only had a shower) – we plugged the shower drain and ran some water into the shower making it plenty deep enough for our daughter’s bath.

We decided before our trip that we didn`t want to miss out the evening fun on the cruise ship. So, after bath time we put our daughter into her pyjamas and placed her into her stroller. We then headed off to see a show, or to see a comedian, or listen to some music, or just walk the ship. It was a great time of the day for all of us.

Our daughter would laugh and smile at all the people and the excitement that surrounded her – but it wasn`t long – maybe 30 or 40 minutes before she would fall asleep in her stroller. We adjusted the stroller seat so that she was reclining as she slept.

As our daughter slept we would continue doing things on the ship until my husband and I were ready to call it a day. We would back to our cabin, tuck our daughter into her playpen for the night, and then tuck ourselves into bed as well.

Going on a successful cruise vacation takes some advanced planning. For us cruising is a wonderful way to have a stress-free vacation, enjoy our daughter and enjoy being a family.

In this era of faster everything, including faster and larger commercial airliners where passengers are packed in like sardines, one thing seems to remain constant. That is the wonderful, leisurely world of cruising. For many years the airline industry has experienced numerous setbacks, while the cruise industry has been growing by leaps and bounds. There are many reasons why you should consider becoming a part of this amazing phenomenon. Here are some of them.

According to some recent research from the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), ninety-five percent of cruisers give top marks to their cruising experience and over seventy-five percent are planning to cruise again within three years.

Contrary to what some people might think, cruises are very affordable. With most vacations you end up paying for air flights, hotels or resorts, restaurants, entertainment, and sometimes car rentals. If you add all these costs up, cruises can be a real bargain. When you book a cruise, in most cases you pay for the airfare and cruise. However, if you live close enough to your cruise ship departure port, you may be able to drive there much cheaper than you can fly.

Even if you do have to fly to the departure port you can always get a flight and cruise package which is usually less expensive than buying your flight and cruise separately. You will save even more money as your lodging, restaurant meals, and entertainment are also included.

When you book a luxury cruise vacation, well over 85% of your holiday is prepaid and that includes all meals, night clubs, stage shows, movies, and entertainment, as well as numerous other activities and amenities. In addition, most ships have onboard activities such as golf, rock climbing, dancing, swimming, scuba diving lessons which can lead to certification, Pilates, yoga, and fitness trainers. You can also pamper yourself with wonderful spas and body massages.

Another way to save a bundle on a cruise is to book an inside cabin. If you don’t need to have a cabin that has a balcony or ocean view, then you will save a lot of money. You have use of all the shared amenities with your fellow passengers, but it is costing you a lot less.

You can also save a bundle on repositioning cruises. A repositioning cruise is made possible at certain times of the year, usually in the spring and fall, when cruise lines relocate their ships from one part of the world to another.

There are numerous luxury cruise vacations to choose from, that range from three day mini cruises to several month long cruises as well as an incredible around the world cruise odyssey.

When you’re cruising, you are traveling in the lap of luxury in a floating five-star hotel. You will be pampered and feel like you are living the life of a king or queen, not just for a day, but for every day of the cruise. Gourmet dining, elegant surroundings and impeccable service are only a few of the superlatives that can be used to describe cruising.

If you like delicious food you will absolutely love gourmet meals and scrumptious desserts created by great chefs and served in a variety of restaurants. There are always wonderful buffets available throughout the day and even midnight buffets. A number of themed lounges are located throughout the cruise ships for your convenience.

Love to see Broadway style shows and theater performances without making reservations or paying outrageous prices for tickets? Then taking a cruise is the answer. So many things are included on a cruise that make cruising such a great value for your travel and entertainment dollar.

From children to great grandparents, there’s always something to interest everyone on a cruise. You have the option of being as active as you like or you can just relax and experience breathtaking sunrises and sunsets while watching the world go by. So many wonderful and precious memories will stay with you a lifetime when you take a luxury cruise.

Like to party around the clock? No problem. Whether you are with a partner or single, it is always party time. You don’t even have to plan the party or clean up after it, just have a lot of fun!

Businesses from all over the world book conferences, seminars, team building get-togethers, product launches and employee reward vacation cruises. Cruise lines don’t charge extra for conference room facilities and use of audio/video equipment.

Group cruises are not only for companies and business people. Family reunions, honeymoons and weddings, sports groups and clubs, charities and fund raisers are only some of the many kinds of groups that have their events on cruises.

When you cruise there is no hassle of having to pack and unpack again and again every time you travel to a new location. Another bonus is there is no limit on the amount of luggage you can bring on a cruise.

People with disabilities should have no problem getting around on a cruise ship. Cruise lines have made onboard accessibility a non-issue as their ships are equipped with ramps, elevators and easily accessible cabins and state rooms.

Today’s cruise ships have drastically reduced the problem of seasickness. Modern, larger ships slice through the waves instead of riding on the top of them. Also, innovative new technologies like stabilizers and counterbalancing systems have dramatically reduced the pitch and roll of the cruise ships, all but neutralizing the problem of seasickness.

A physician and medical staff are never more than a few minutes away on a cruise ship should any passenger need to see doctor. Most common passenger ailments and minor mishaps occur less on a cruise ship than on shore.

Cruising is also one of the safest forms of travel. The cruise industry has an exceptional safety record. And as far as assaults and robberies are concerned, they are over a hundred times less likely to occur on a cruise ship than in your own home town.

For people who have a fear of flying or are not fond of being crammed like sardines into commercial airplanes when traveling to their destinations, here is some great news. The cruise lines in the U.S. A. are making terrific headway catering to cruise passengers needs. They are opening up more ports of call on both the West and East coasts so more and more people who would love to take a cruise but don’t care for flying, can easily drive or take a bus or train to most departure ports.

Cruising with children in Alaska would be a great educational opportunity for them to learn about the amazing natural untouched landscapes and its wildlife, glaciers and marine life as well as learning about the weather and the possible effects of climate change

As with most destinations Alaska is no different in offering a great selection of onboard activities. Adults with children need not worry about missing the things they want to do as the children also have the option to take part in activities of their own. This gives everyone the chance to do what they want and everyone is happy.

Camp Carnival is available for children on the Carnival Cruise ships. This offers children from the ages of 2-15 the chance to enjoy a range of activities to keep them entertained while you enjoy some of the more adult aspects of your cruise. Camp Carnival is a free service offered by Carnival Cruise lines as part of your cruise. There is also a baby sitting service for a small additional charge in the evenings.

Kid’s Crew is available to children aged between 2 and 17 years old is the childrens activity program available of the Norwegian Cruise Line ships. Each of the activities on offer are aimed specifically at the age group of the children taking part.

Whilst you are having fun or enjoying doing what you want the children can be enjoying activities such as storytelling, shows, and for the slightly older children they could also be learning to cook or treasure hunts either onboard or ashore. The teenagers are also happy with dances and video games and much more.

Princess cruise lines also offer their own children’s program with its own range of educational activities as well as television time so the kids can watch cartoons. There is also the chance to let the children eat with their friends during one of the children only meal times. You can also take advantage of the sitter service provided by Princess cruise lines, which is available after 10pm for a small additional hourly fee. Not only can you enjoy a quiet meal you can enjoy some of the evening entertainment as well.

Royal Caribbean offer families some great options with their Ocean Adventure program offering children a great variety of activities and fun games for children aged 3 to 17 years old. Ocean Adventure doesn’t stop there though because they do plan some really amazing family activities for you to enjoy with your child. So you can also have some adult time and join in when you want. All activities are suitable for the children depending on their age as they are placed in groups based on this.

If it wasn’t for the different children’s clubs your vacation in Alaska could become a nightmare. If the children are happy the adults are happy as they are able to do the things they want. So if you are planning on taking a cruise around Alaska make sure the cruise ship has a kids club.

Travel can be exciting and interesting, but it’s the little things that matter – like where you’re going to sleep for the night, where to eat and how to get to where you’re going. These are all concerns that travelers tend to have and choosing the right hotel is a huge factor in how much you’ll enjoy your trip to Toronto. Hotels can literally make or break your trip, whether you’re in town for business or pleasure.

Toronto hotels are many and the price ranges vary drastically, depending on what level of luxury you want. While price is not the only thing to consider when choosing a hotel, it is certainly a factor for most people. Here are some other things to think about when searching for a place to lay your head.

Location

You’ll want your hotel to be conveniently located, if possible. This makes it easier to get around. If you’re attending a conference, for example, getting a room within the same hotel is best, but anything nearby will be good, as well. Some places further off the beaten path may charge less, but remember that you’ll need to factor in transit times, car rental or taxi costs.

Service

There really is nothing worse than bad service at a hotel. When you need an extra blanket or more fresh towels, it’s important that these be provided. A good hotel will offer quality service, no matter what price range they’re in. Also take into consideration any extra features you’ll need, like room service or internet access in your room.

Size

How big are the rooms? You’ll find that some Toronto hotels are barely habitable because of the size. Unless you are really on a tight budget, there’s no need to cram into a matchbox sized room. Adjoining rooms are also a good idea if you have children, but want to keep two separate rooms.

Cost

This is part of price, but you need to look at the cost per person. Some hotels allow you to have just one or two people per bed, while others are fine if you want to cram a few more in. This all works out to a cost per person.

Upgrades

Using membership cards, either from a hotel chain or American Express can sometimes get you a nice upgrade, so check for hotels that let you do this. It will really make a difference in your trip.

Features

Are there special features you would like to have included? These might include a pool, spa, or just a nice place to sit outside and read. Different hotels have different levels of features, some might be very basic, while others will include everything from a spa to waterslides for the kids.

Choosing a hotel is a very personal choice. Your own preferences and budget will determine what sort of Toronto hotel you’ll want. If you are traveling alone, you might not need as many amenities, but with your family, you could opt for something a bit more entertaining than a plain hotel.

Toronto hotels have options for everyone. Keep in mind that hotels near major attractions will tend to be higher priced than those away from the action, but don’t forget to factor in the per person cost and transportation, as well. It might be worth getting a room nearer certain attractions if you can save on the rental car cost. With a little research, you’ll be ready to start making reservations and booking your trip.

Thinking of a family vacation aboard a cruise ship? Obviously, there are a dozen activities you can choose from, which will be just as fun as well, but nothing beats the pleasure of a vacation aboard a ship. You can camp, go on a picnic, visit new places and shop but nothing beats the excitement of being on board a ship.

Setting sail on the water is a something that many individuals would like to do. The problem is, most of us do not own a boat nor are skilled enough to operate it. We have an interesting piece of information for you: a family vacation aboard a cruise ship can be for anyone irrespective of whether they understand sailing or not. You can experience the wonders of sailing across the deep blue waters on a cruise vacation.

Will your family enjoy a vacation sailing across the ocean on a cruise ship? Cruise liners are fun as they allow you to do new things that were not possible before. Individuals of all age can enjoy participating in these activities.

Before you book your family vacation aboard a cruise ship you need to place careful consideration on all of the following issues before you make the decision. If you prefer quiet evening away from the crowd, probably being aboard a cruise ship would not be suitable as a few nights on a hired yacht. On any given cruise liner, you are likely to find an unlimited number of activities for both children and adults. You can swim, play games, watch a movie, or simply enjoy a good book.

Do you know that family cruise ship vacations have superb on board child care service? The child can be left for an hour or two while you pamper yourself with some private time with your spouse, or alone. The good news is they are often free of charge.

The time spent aboard a cruise ship would be precious moments that would forever be in the minds of your kids. It would be a time they would love to remember. Now the close corridors found on board an ocean liner becomes an advantage. If you have teens, this would be great to create new bonding between you and your child as parents often complain that teens do not spend enough time with the family.

This would be a wonderful chance to reconnect without being too demanding. Do not leave the camera behind because you will want to capture these memories. You may find it comforting to know that you can return to this wonderful moments again and again just by getting on a cruise ship on your next upcoming vacation. Anyone can enjoy these trips as they are often offered at low prices.

The area has at times been called the home of all inclusive vacations due to the high proportion of that type of vacation package compared to other packages. It is still a matter of debate as to why the Caribbean is so popular for all inclusive vacations; in fact more are booked on this basis than those for bed and breakfast only. Many people believe that it is due to a drive to attract a greater number of tourists to the area, though there is no real evidence that there has ever been a need to do this.

It could just be because all inclusive Caribbean vacations can be less expensive overall and easier to manage, the amount of spending money required is minimal, a fact that is not missed by families. There are even specialist packages, so it doesn’t matter what your interest or requirements are you can guarantee they will be met. Some visitors only need flights to the Caribbean as they are visiting family, there is, normally, no real need for anything other than the flight to be organized.

It is one of those destinations where it an all inclusive Caribbean vacation option is the most affordable. While many people like to book everything themselves, this isn’t always the least expensive option as operators can offer massive discounts. Many independent travelers would rarely consider arranging a ‘package’ vacation of this sort. Many people are still unsure of what to expect from an all inclusive vacation even though they have now been around for a good many years.

Every vacation includes the accommodation and that is the only consistent part of a vacation except where a flight has been booked on its own. Although food is included in this type of vacation, it is not necessarily in others, this arrangement can vary but the majority will at least supply a cooked or continental breakfast. Would you believe there are still quite a number of people that believe that a full-board vacation is exactly the same as an all-inclusive one.

A full board package will include breakfast lunch and supper, but not drinks, while an all inclusive Caribbean vacation package will include meals and drinks. Another difference is in the vouchers for meals, entertainment and often trips which are presented by many hotels, these are usually available but with an extra charge (even if they have been discounted). Generally speaking, at all inclusive Caribbean vacation resorts everything is free,in fact you will be hard pushed to find events and situations where you will need money, which means you are able to enjoy more without the worry of additional cost.

Planning your first vacation with you baby is essential to the success of your trip.

by Jen Stoddart

Planning your first vacation with you baby is essential to the success of your trip.

Here are ten tips to follow to help you when planning your trip.

1. If your vacation plans involve traveling to a remote location, or if your plans include time on a cruise ship make sure that you have made arrangements for food and water for your baby. If you are off to a major city in North America or Europe you will be able to purchase the required items when you arrive.

2. Medications. Anticipate what small ailments may occur to your child during the trip, and pack a small kit with the medicine that will help you to easily treat an upset tummy, a slight fever, an ear-ache, any rashes and so on.

3. In the past when it was just you and your spouse traveling on your own – you may have been on the go for the most part and you didn’t spend much time in your room. Things will be different now. Every day your baby will be napping and on many of those days it will be in your hotel room – or in your cabin on a cruise ship. Give yourself a place to spend the time that your child is napping – consider upgrading your room so that it has a balcony that you can relax on while your child sleeps.

4. Don’t plan on being as busy as you were on trips before baby. You can’t just go-go-go. Take time to stop periodically, and play with the baby. If there are some sites or adventures that one of you just has to see – agree up front that there will be times when one parent heads off on their own to see or do what is important to them while the other parent tends to the baby.

5. Get the baby out of their stroller. Having a great stroller for your baby while on vacation is wonderful. Keep in mind though that baby will probably be in their stroller for longer periods than they are used to. If your baby likes to sleep in their stroller (like ours does) be careful that they don’t sleep too much. It may result in them not being able to, or wanting to sleep at night.

6. Takes direct flights when flying. When possible avoid connecting air flights. Flying for babies is not always easy. The change in air pressure during take-offs and landings can be hard for babies.

7. Travel bed. Bringing your own compact travel bed with you ensures that your baby will be sleeping in a comfortable and safe environment. There is no guarantee about the quality of the crib that the hotel will provide to you when you arrive.

8. If possible bring your own car seat. The ones provided by car rental companies are sometimes questionable.

9. Make sure your child has the necessary vaccinations. See your child’s doctor six to eight weeks before you intend to travel, especially if visiting developing countries.

10. Make a list of the items that you will need for the baby during the trips. Things like diapers, wipes, face cloths, and so on. Review the list before you go and make sure that you have everything with you that you will need.

Is it time for that annual family vacation? Time to pack up the camping gear then. Or wait; perhaps you could go somewhere a bit more exciting this year, somewhere with no outhouses or mosquitoes. Imagine white sand beaches and fancy coconut drinks. Or historic architecture and priceless art. You need to go on a real vacation this year, so find your vacation destination and get on your way. The Internet is just waiting to help you find the right place.

It is really amazing how great the Internet is for finding the perfect vacation destination. There are entire websites devoted to vacations and forums where travelers can post their thoughts on what the loved or hated about where they travelled. View advisories on where not to travel and get information on travel immunizations. If you choose a non-English speaking country you can even use the Internet to learn the native language.

If you have small children, don’t despair as there are many resorts that cater to your family type. Some resorts and cruises will take the kids off you hands each day and organize great activities for them while you sit by the adult pool and relax. Or if you have trouble letting go of your little one you can find a resort that lets you join in the activities with your child.

Hop on the Internet and see what’s available. It’s really quite simple these days. There are great vacation search engines that can help you find the exact right vacation destination. Limit by dates, continents or countries, facilities and activities. Check out hotel and resort reviews, view pictures and walk thrus, see maps of the area and lists of local tourist sites. They’ll also have descriptions of the various rooms and views available. Make sure you look at the hot deals page, your vacation destination package may be right there for you at hundreds of dollars off.

If you’re in need of that break from the mundane work-week, take a trip through cyberspace and locate those ideal vacation destinations for you and your family. The all-inclusive package deals will help you decide which is the perfect one. This way you will have all expenses taken care of before traveling, and little stress while enjoying your vacation.
