Businesses face a number of challenges when making attempts at collecting debt internally. Unfortunately, in order to maintain a good amount of working capital, being able to recover outstanding delinquent debt is essential to a company's functioning.

Businesses face a number of challenges when making attempts at collecting debt internally. Unfortunately, in order to maintain a good amount of working capital, being able to recover outstanding delinquent debt is essential to a company’s functioning.

Perhaps the biggest obstacle to overcome in collecting debt is maintaining solid relationships with the client. Often, the debtor who is delinquent on payments is a solid customer who is simply a slow-paying client, rather than a nonpaying client. Businesses still need to collect the money owed by the customer but must keep in mind that they don’t want to lose the valued client.

At the same time, it is necessary to enforce policies that help with collecting debt. Therefore, a business must set forth specific policies that assist with internal debt collection without angering and offending good clients who are simply delayed in making payments.

Another issue in collecting debt is a lack of available resources within the company. Time and manpower are required to collect debt, and rather than dedicating these resources to the recovery process, many businesses opt to put their efforts into more lucrative, future-facing endeavors.

This means minimal effort is put into the collection of delinquent debt. Poor results are achieved because not enough time is spent on the project. A successful business has an aggressive debt collection policy in place and uses motivation and determination to inspire their debt collection crew. Collecting debt is not seen as a ’side project’.

Training and experience can also be a hindrance in collecting debt for businesses. While many business-minded individuals and groups can easily make decisions and set forth policies for various aspects of the business, a vast majority don’t have the knowledge of the debt collection industry to make informed decisions and create precise procedures.

Misconceptions abound, and the company cannot succeed in their endeavors. It becomes frustrating to put any internal effort into collecting debt, and a business might opt to outsource the process, despite lowered profit margins created by this decision.

In order to overcome these obstacles, it is essential to put into place a set of clear-cut policies for a business to follow and maintain. These policies should involve proper training in the debt collection industry, dedicated resources to collecting debt, and emphasis on maintaining good relationships with clients.

Next, discover more important facts and resources about collecting debt, as well as collection agency services.

Money; specifically credit is something many of us are uncomfortable talking about. It can be tough getting approval for a credit card, especially if you have had some credit problems in the past or worse yet, if you have no credit history. No matter the reason, it can be distressing to be rejected for a credit card. You can work towards building a credit history while having all of the benefits offered by a credit card by using a prepaid credit card.

But how does a prepaid credit card actually work? It is essentially an account into which you can deposit money and access it by using the card to make purchases. You can use a prepaid credit card anywhere that credit cards are accepted. Unlike a traditional card, however, you can only make purchases after you have deposited money in your account. There is a spending limit just as with a traditional charge card, but with a prepaid card, this limit is the amount which you have put on your account.

A prepaid card will give you several benefits that you can enjoy. The first is that you’ll be able to develop a sense of spending freedom. With you’re prepaid card you’ll be able to buy anything from any store that regularly accepts credit cards.

A prepaid credit card is very helpful in keeping your spending under control. You can only spend as much as you have deposited in your account, so it is impossible to get yourself into credit card debt by overspending. A prepaid credit card is also a good way to begin learning about managing your financial life responsibly.

A prepaid credit card also has the advantage of being protected from identity theft. If you are buying online or by phone, you can have the peace of mind that comes from knowing that your other accounts are insulated from this card.

How do you get a prepaid credit card? You’ll have to pay a fee to set up the account; this is usually somewhere between $5-$10. There are also some small fees associated with deposits as well. These fees are small, but well worth it to control your spending and help build your credit.

Let’s face facts, we live in a credit driven world today. It seems like you can’t do anything without a credit card these days. So if you want to be able to function in this world you need to find a way to have access to a credit card. For those who are struggling with bad credit, or want to keep better tabs on their spending then a prepaid card might be exactly what you’re looking for!

Repairing your credit is never an easy thing. But, there are several things you can do to get yourself out of debt.

by Mike Carbeck

Repairing your credit is never an easy thing. But, there are several things you can do to get yourself out of debt.

We all have monthly bills, and sometimes we encounter times when the bills are outrageous. We are all responsible for paying our bills, this is a reality from which there is no escape. If you find yourself in need of help, there are ways to pay your bills and get out of debt.

The ever changing credit laws make it especially difficult for people to restore their credit to good standing. There are also laws that make getting copies of all three of your credit reports free. If you have discrepancies in your credit report, then it is imperative that you get copies of your report and launch a dispute.

If the agencies filed a false claim against your credit record, you may be able to sue. This can result in late processing of your payments and if you do not owe the bill, the credit agency will be forced to remove it from your record.

If you notice any errors or inconsistencies in your credit report it is important that you contact the reporting agency at once. Experion, TransUnion and Equifax all have dispute hotlines set up for just this purpose.

Disputing things on your credit report is just the first step in getting back on track. The information on your credit report comes from various sources and as a general rule this stays with your credit record for up to seven years. While positive credit reporting information is likely to remain for up to ten years.

If you have any questionable information contained on your report then it is important you dispute it immediately. The credit bureau will investigate the situation and if it finds valid grounds for dismissal, then the information is removed from your record. If the situation cannot be resolved, then the credit agency can remove or modify the claim in question.

This is another reason why it is so important to monitor your credit report regularly. In addition you can get information about your credit rating and what factors determine or effect it. If you see information that you dispute on your credit report and you can not find a resolution, then it pays for you to get educated on what you can do.

Never believe the misleading or false advertising of a credit counseling agency that make claims that sound to good to be true. All of these companies are regulated by law and it is illegal for them to promise something they cannot deliver.

The National Foundation for Credit Counseling is a great resource for people seeking genuine assistance with their debts. They have representatives that are highly trained at providing consumers with help repairing credit and removing debt. They can also help you get creditors to back off and stop the threats.

It is very important that you know your rights and the laws surrounding credit card debt collection practices. While rebuilding your bad credit can seem difficult, it is not impossible to get out of debt with the right help. Remember that there are millions of people in the world just like you, they have experienced credit issues or problems at one time or another.

The Consumer Response Center is another invaluable resource for finding out information about your rights. Some victims have more rights than others. Victims of Identity Theft or Military Personnel who have been robbed of their identity, have many more rights than someone who is just delinquent in paying their bills.

Knowing what your rights are is the first step in getting back on the road to good credit and regaining financial freedom.

by Darren Cason

Many American consumers have recently defaulted on their credit cards. Recent hurricanes along with high gas prices have affected consumers. However, having to pay more for gas should not be enough to push you over the edge, if you are using your credit card responsibly.

There are many excellent reasons to use credit cards. They eliminate the need to carry large amounts of cash, and many offer rewards points or cash back options. Discover Card in particular offers a well-known cash back program. Credit cards also come in handy during emergencies, as a convenient way to make unexpected purchases if you do not have cash saved up for such emergencies.

However, the bottom line is that if you can’t pay cash for a purchase, then you should not charge it. Credit cards are often used to buy luxuries that you can’t really afford. Being able to make the minimum payment is not the same as being able to afford the item.

If you have a balance on your credit card, particularly if you only make the minimum monthly payments, then you need to get control of your finances. First, read the fine print of your credit card agreement. If it has a yearly fee, cancel it. If it has an exorbitant interest rate, call the credit card company. Many will lower your rate just for asking. Next, compare the late fee, especially if you are often charged this fee because you pay late. By shopping around, you may be able to save money on the fees.

Penalty rates can be very high on credit cards. Over three quarters of credit card companies raise rates as a penalty for carrying a monthly balance and paying your bill late. However, there are still some companies who do not do this, so if you often carry a balance or are late paying, you should look for a credit card with lower interest or one which will not raise your rates. Another penalty fee to watch out for is the fee charged for going over the card’s credit limit or when you desire for the best card to transfer.

Another factor to consider when choosing a credit card is the minimum payment. Minimum payment amounts are very important when calculating the total amount of interest you’ll owe on the amounts you charge. If you’re charging items because you can’t afford them in full now, why would you want to pay interest on top of that amount? According to one study, paying the minimum payment on a $12,000 balance at 18 percent interest will take more than 60 years to pay off! And you’ll end up paying nearly three times your original balance because of all the interest charges. Many people only make the minimum payment each month, but it will take you many years to pay it off if you do that. As a result, new laws require that the minimum payment is at least 1 percent of the balance. If you paid that on the same $12,000 balance, it would cut the payment time to 30 years, and the interest down to less than $6,000.

You must understand how credit card fees if you want to use them responsibly and avoid falling into debt. Think wisely, and avoid using the card if you can.

High school graduation is upon you and your child wants to take the next step. College is not cheap these days. The costs continue to rise each year. This fact has some folks asking, should college students pay for their education?

by William Blake

High school graduation is upon you and your child wants to take the next step. College is not cheap these days. The costs continue to rise each year. This fact has some folks asking, should college students pay for their education?

Today we live in a competitive world. In order to be a major player in the game it is important to have a good education. Of course you want your child to have a bright future and as many opportunities as possible to succeed. A college education plays a major part in your child’s future prospects.

Parents continue to support their children through the college years. A summer job is hardly enough work to finance an education, so parental help is necessary. Some parents, however, don’t have the finances to fund a college education for one child, let alone two or three.

Students begin the journey towards a college education when they are in high school. Here, they map out a plan to get them to the college of their choice. These are the years when grades, volunteer work, and other opportunities are worked on. High school sets the stage for college.

Students that use high school as a staging area for further educational pursuits are, in essence, trying to pay for their education. Good grades can lead to local scholarships. Athletic students can earn tryouts from college scouts that could lead to scholarships.

While it is true that it is difficult for students to fund their own education if they plan ahead and work hard in high school they will be eligible for grants and loans, financial aid, scholarships and other assistance that can greatly reduce the amount of that parents have to pay toward their child’s education.

Parents can plan ahead as well. No matter where you live there are numerous college savings plans that parents can take advantage of as early in the child’s life as possible to help them be prepared to contribute toward their child’s college education. A good college fund can really relieve a lot of stress of college expenses.

If both parent and child work together and begin planning early there is much that can be done to reduce the stress of paying for college. Develop a savings plan early in your child’s life and train them to be conscience of ways to help out, working part time, saving money and working hard to get good grades in school. All of this will make things much easier when that first tuition check comes due.

by Paul J. Easton

Accumulating the credit card debt seems so easy but get rid of it is so really challenging. With the mounting insecurity in our economy, escaping the credit card debt is much more needed than before. But how do we get started?

The first step is pretty obvious: you need to stop using all credit cards. Yes, that is today and not tomorrow. Continually using the cards gets you tempted to spending more than what you can afford. You will just be shocked later how big your balances went and the trouble starts to sink in. So cut up your card now!

Without the credit cards, take your plan of getting out of debt by making a list of what you owe. This may be hard as you truly see the real debt deal. Collect all your bills from different cards. Have a pile of all your statements and list all your debts in order starting from the largest balance to the smallest. Have an inventory of their minimum monthly payments and the interest rates that you are paying on every card. By having this analysis, you now have a clear understanding of where you truly stand.

Always prioritize your repayments no matter what. Select the card with the highest interest rate. Pay them fully off first to avoid the charges with this card. If your budget would still permit, pay off also the card with the smallest balance. You can maintain paying the minimum for the rest of your cards for now. Upon fully paying the first two cards, you will feel some motivation in doing the same for the rest of the cards. Be debt-free now with these tips on how to get rid of debt here.

The debt started with your bad spending habit. So even if you have to take on a part-time job or keep on paying your bills, you just have to cutback on your luxury spending. This is the time where you decide that you really need to just live within your means.

If you find your situation to be very distressing even after cutting back on some expenses, you can find alternative ways of raising funds. You can consider liquidating some assets that you don’t necessarily use like holding a garage sale.

By taking the action to step up and face your credit card debts, you deserve a pat in the back for the courage. Keep the hard work and with due consistency, you will be looking forward to being debt-free.

The Orchard Bank card is issued by HSBC Bank, one of the largest and most reputable banks. This card is designed for those with a damaged credit score.

This card has a unique application process. When you apply they will match your credit score to one of four sub prime credit cards.

This includes a secured card and three unsecured credit cards. If you have made some mistakes in the past with your credit then you are guaranteed to be issued a card that corresponds to your credit score.

If you have many negative items on your credit report you will likely be issued the secured card. With this card you must make a deposit and then your card will have a credit limit equal to the amount of your deposit.

It works just like an unsecured card and you will have to make monthly payments. Your APR will be between 8.9% and 14.9%; this is much lower than most sub prime credit cards.

If you have made only a few mistakes with your credit you can be approved for an unsecured credit card. However if you still want to be issued the secured card instead you can be.

The unsecured cards will have some fees like a 19$ account set up fee with one of the cards. These cards also carry an APR between 8.9% and 18.9%.

However the fees with the Orchard Bank cards are dramatically less than any other available bad credit cards. In addition they offer considerably lower APR’s too.

All of these cards will report to the three major credit bureaus. With responsible use of your card you can build a positive payment history on your credit report.

This is an important factor when your score is being calculated. It makes up approximately 30% of your score.

These cards will also help to improve your ratio of available credit to debt. This is estimated to account for 30% of your score. It is how the bureaus check to see if people are in over their heads financially.

You should know that once a bad credit item on your report ages four years it will have much less influence on your score. However we do still encourage you to remove bad credit items from your report.

In sum no matter what your credit history is; bankruptcy, judgments, charge offs, collections you can be approved for an Orchard Bank credit card. This card can be used to repair your credit score by creating a positive payment history and improving your ratio of available credit to debt.

Having bad credit is a problem that will really affect every aspect of your life. Many of your hopes and dreams will be unattainable if you have bad credit. Even taking care of life’s necessities becomes more difficult if you do not have good credit.

If you have already made some mistakes in life and have bad credit, you should know that there are ways to repair credit score and get back on track. There are a few steps in particular that you are going to want to take if you need to repair credit score.

Know What Your Credit Looks Like

Before you know how to repair your credit you need to know the exact condition of your credit right now. You can request your credit report on line and it can be sent to you via e-mail or regular mail. You can also ask your bank if they can get you a copy of your credit report. By reviewing your report you will understand where your problems and then you can begin to take steps to fix them.

The first thing you want to do is check for any entries on your report that are incorrect. If there is inaccurate information on your report that is adversely affecting your credit you want to get that taken care of as quickly as possible so that it does not continue to bring down your score. Once all errors are corrected you will be able to see exactly how much debt you have.

Pay Off Your Creditors

The next step is the get your debts organize and start working towards paying them off. Of course you can not pay all your bills off at once. But try to attack them one at a time. You want to start with the higher interest rate debts which usually are your credit card debts.

Get all your credit card bills together and decide which one you will pay first. Focus on paying more then the required amount on one card each month which will mean less interest compounding on that account. Work through each card until they are all paid in full.

Be Smart in the Future

After you have accomplished the difficult task of paying off your credit cards decide that you are not ever going to be back in that situation again. Work hard to establish good credit by avoiding new credit card debts. If you use credit cards in the future pay the balance in full every month.

These are steps that you can personally take to repair your credit and they are free of charge. You will save money and repair your own credit at no extra cost to you.

Sub prime credit cards have been created specifically for individuals with a damaged credit history. For most these cards offer a second chance with credit.

Used responsibly these cards will create a positive payment history and improve your ratio of available credit to debt. Frequently these cards are used to repair a damaged score.

These two factors are heavily weighted on your credit score. Improving them you can achieve a high score even with negative items on your report.

There is monthly credit reporting with these cards. You should expect an APR of 19% and you will have some fees for these cards. This is the cost of a low score, however used correctly and this can be the last time you have a cost due to your score.

Most of these cards come with a $300 credit limit. However some cards such as the Tribute MasterCard will also approve individuals for a $70 credit limit and many will offer periodic limit increases.

These cards will help to improve your score more than a secured card. This is because secured cards are reported as a secured account to the bureaus and this will be weighted less than an unsecured account.

It is still important to remove negative marks from your credit history. However it has been learned that after a negative mark ages for four years it has much less impact on your score.

You should know that to get the most out of your card on your credit you should try to keep the balance at roughly 20% of your available credit. This will help because it shows the bureaus that you do use your card and are using it responsibly.

If you have; collections, charge offs, judgments, bankruptcy, or a repossession you can still be approved for this card. Each card will have different requirements for approval and you will get an immediate decision when you apply.

In sum we do suggest a sub prime credit card for individuals with a damaged credit history. It can be used to help you build positive credit and rebuild your score.

The Green Dot Visa is a prepaid debit card. Often this is used by individuals that do not have a bank account.

by Dan Moskel

The Green Dot Visa is a prepaid debit card. Often this is used by individuals that do not have a bank account.

Card holders get free direct deposit, which can save hundreds of dollars a year on check cashing fees. It is accepted world wide.

There is a monthly maintenance fee of $4.95 however if you deposit $750 or more monthly this fee is waived. There is no credit check or bank account required for approval.

It is accepted online and over the phone. You can access your cash at almost one million ATM’s world wide.

Frequent criticisms of this card are; the number of fees and poor customer service. It carries a reload fee of $4.95 when a MoneyPak is used to deposit funds.

These are purchased at retailer locations such as Walgreens, Wal-mart, Kroger, CVS and more. There is also a $2.50 ATM Withdrawal fee and a $9.95 activation fee.

It is issued as a Visa or MasterCard through the Columbus Bank and Trust Company.

They do offer an upgrade to Premier Membership; the advantage is you will receive priority customer service. This upgrade costs an extra $20.

Upon completion of your application you will be mailed a card in 7 – 10 business days. You can also purchase this card at many retail locations.

Parents have found this card useful to teach their children money management skills. Additionally it is an easy way to send students money that are away at school.

Your money will be protected if your card is ever lost or stolen. It is a much safer alternative than carrying cash.

You use it to pay your bills. Additionally it will give you a convenient way to track your spending and stay within a budget.

In sum we do not suggest this card. We are alarmed at the extra fees for priority customer service. We feel that when it comes to your hard earned money everyone is entitled to priority service.
