There is no resume more difficult to write than a sales resume. After all, you want to write a resume that would effectively sell yourself to the employer first and foremost.

Everybody who is in search for skilled sales executives wants to get somebody who can drive more sales and increase their profit margin. That is why you always have to set your eyes on the prize, which is a cavalcade of employers bending over backwards to hire you based on your resume.

The best sales people can blow the most infinitesimal triumph out of proportion, or hide a colossal debacle. Other skills employers seek would be the ability to persuade other people as well as the capacity and desire to learn. Sales resumes need to reflect these traits in both direct and indirect means.

The following details will need to be part and parcel of every sales resume:

A clearly defined and consistent list of job objectives that shows you know what you are set out to do.

Your resume should have the names of each of your employers and your corresponding job titles.

Give a brief description of your previous employer if they are not well known.

As a salesperson, highlight your sales goals and results.

Do not leave out leadership details, because as a prospective sales team leader, employers want to know how large your previous team was.

Any would-be sales team leader would want to include their responsibilities and assignments in planning the company or department budget.

Include your sales responsibilities with some description of what you sell and the markets in which you sell your products or the concepts and the type of clients that you targeted.

Regarding the budgetary responsibilities a few paragraphs up, also include a description of the major projects you had completed, and whether you stayed within budget and the prescribed time frame of completion.

Highlight all the new sales practices and procedures that you had introduced in your previous companies or teams that had led to improved sales.

Include details of how you had helped achieve synergy and improved efficiency in your organization or department.

And again related to budget matters, include any information about projects that had helped your department or organization reduce costs.

Highlight any other achievements that have benefited your department and obviously your organization.

Applying for a sales position, especially a leadership post, is a golden opportunity to use the selling skills you have learned. Use your resume as a sales tool to land the job.

Can’t decide when to take your next holiday?
When looking for a job with Uncle Sam, you generally must send 2 types of documents: a government resume, which is a resume that is exclusively designed for government job openings and KSAs, which are short essays that must showcase that you have the right knowledge, skills and abilities for the job.

Just like government resumes, KSA essays must follow specific guidelines – whether its in term of format or content – and answer all the questions listed in the job announcement. KSAs should not be ignored as, in some cases, they have more importance than a resume to get an interview or even a job.

Because writing KSA essays is not only intricate but also requires being a great writer, most job seekers are now getting KSA writers to write their essays for them. Finding a great KSA writing service might not be simple when youre new to this and here are a few elements that will help you find a good KSA writing service:

First, a professional KSA writer should be certified, which will assure that they have the right credentials. There are quite a few types of credentials out there but with PARW, CPRW or NARW, you know you are in good hands as they are premier sources for certification.

Second, professional KSA writers should obviously be specialized in preparing KSA documents, Federal resumes and government job applications so that they know what theyre doing – this usually means that they took special classes and trainings on that subject.

Third, see how many years of experience they have ” the more, the better, as you would not want to put your career in the hands of a newbie! Also look for any type of info about the achievements they had. While a success rate is the best way to make sure they can indeed get great results, also look for testimonials, comments, etc

Fourth, check out what is their delivery time. This is very important as, Federal vacancy announcements having deadlines, you want to make sure you will get your KSAs in time.

Finally look at their prices, particularly as some companies overcharge for that service (its usually the case when they dont show their prices online and ask you to call in for a quote). To give you an idea, you should not spend more than $150 for 5 KSA points.

If you are someone who dreads sitting down and starting that CV, then you are not alone. CV writing is one of the most stressful jobs and getting it right can be the cause of many a sleepless night. But don’t despair. Great resumes require a level of despair or strain to make it work.

So, what is a perfect resume? Follow these tips and you won’t go to far wrong.

*Keep it short.

Always difficult to do, epically if you have a gazillion years experience. It is essential to get the most relevant information on your CV. When I look at a CV, I need to impart information quickly. It is a bit like writing articles for the web – you got to grab the attention of your employer, within half a page if possible.

*Nice and Neat

No long sentences here – remember concise and to the point. There is nothing worse that trying to decipher a five line sentence. Bullets are very important as a visual aid for prospective employers, so use them throughout your CV.

*Be Honest

There is no quicker way to fail an interview than to find that a candidate has not been honest. Try to be as honest as you can, but that does not mean that you cannot dress up your experience. You have to draw a delicate balance here between enhancing your experience and outright lies. Remember, you will be caught out if you lie.

*Use the Right Words

There are many terms for these words – buzz words, action words which are designed to get the attention of the reader. Developed, organised and managed are action words which portray a sense of professionalism, but don’t overdo it. Again, give the impression of efficiency and hard work without going over the top.

Conclusion

Ensure your CV conveys an you as professional and efficient as possible using bullet and numbered points. Keep most relevant information near the top above the fold and keep it concise to grab attention. When finished, get your CV proofread by a few people and take heed of any advise.
