Are You Ready For The Britney Spears Tour?

Most entertainers gain most of their revenue from records sales and touring. Not only does touring allow the artist to see the world, but they get a chance to connect with their fans and prove the critics wrong. Super entertainer Britney Spears knows how to tour. Since her pop debut in 1999, the first Britney Spears tour took place in 1999 to 56 cities in North America.

With an abundance of airplay for her latest single “Womanizer” from her sixth studio album Circus, a Britney Spears tour would make sense to be next in line. In fact, it begins March 2009. A Britney Spears tour can rake in millions for the 27-year-old star. With her father managing her finances, those millions can come in handy after spending so much on shopping sprees and legal fees.

Hit Us ‘One More Time’

It was more than ten years ago, in 1998, when we were hit the first time by Spears’ single “Baby One More Time.” And hit we were – by a rather sexy school girl outfit on a Britney Spears that most, until then, had thought of as innocent. Prior to that song and that outfit, she had spent most of her time singing in church – choirs and revues. And then, we were hit again, by a racy Rolling Stone cover with the then-teenaged Spears in nothing but a bra and a pair of boy shorts. Apparently someone knew what they were doing then, because a Britney Spears tour commanded countless millions in ticket sales and merchandise revenues. Merchandise alone on a Britney Spears tour can run the average fan in the hundreds of dollars.

The Britney Spears enterprise does not stop at tours – it only begins there. Spears’ endorsements have heavily padded her bank accounts as well. Spears signed a multi-million dollar contract with Pepsi in 2001. By 2004 she had moved on to perfumes, creating her first that year with the help of Elizabeth Arden. The scent was called “Curious” and mere weeks after its release it had earned over $100 million in sales. No wonder, then, that Spears continued her pathway into perfumes. In 2005 came “Fantasy” and in 2006 came both “Curious: In Control” and “Midnight Fantasy.” By 2008, and the release of “Curious Heart” her scents had Spears sitting on sales beyond her dreams. Britney has also published four books, created a video game, and released a doll. Despite the success of all of these projects, however, Britney’s strongest money-maker has always been touring. Britney Spears has earned over $350 million in ticket sales and over $185 million in merchandise sold on tour.

With the average Britney Spears tour fan 16 to 24 years old, you would be smart to bring a little extra cash when going to a Britney Spears tour. Although great tickets to a Britney Spears tour will set parents back a bit, the Britney Spears tour memorabilia, including CDs, posters, t-shirts, key chains, programs and collectible jackets, can average over $100,000 a night in gross sales.

When the Britney Spears tour was not in production, she was making television sitcom debuts and starring in reality television specials. In 2004 Britney Spears and Kevin Federline starred in Britney & Kevin: Chaotic, a reality show. She made a guest appearance on Will & Grace in 2006 and on How I Met Your Mother in 2008. With another Britney Spears tour coming together again, she will have to prove to her fans that her meltdown is over and she’s back.
